Meet Marta

Hi, I’m Marta, a psychotherapist (MPF) offering therapy in English, Polish, and Danish. I provide support to both locals and expats living in Copenhagen. Originally from Poland, I’ve lived in Denmark for over 11 years now, and graduated from a postgraduate program at Psykoterapeutisk Institut in 2025.

After 15 years of living abroad in multiple countries, I became an in-between third culture kid and sort of a local, where nowhere and everywhere feels like home. This experience guided me to find a home within myself, which is what I strive to help you with, too - building safety within yourself. Whether it’s learning how to experience and self-regulate your emotional states, seeing what a safe relationship feels like, or starting to really listen to your body - I’m happy to support you on your individual journey.

Marta’s Approach

I’m a humanistic and client-centered therapist, where acceptance, genuinness and empathy are the core principles of a therapeutic relationship. This is paired with an existential approach - exploring themes of meaning, identity, and choice in the face of life’s uncertainties. Additionally, I integrate the elements of:

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) - exploring your emotional states as they arise and allowing for deeper understanding, acceptance and healing

  • Gestalt Therapy - an experimental approach focusing on the here and now, and recognizing an individual as a whole

  • Attachment Theory - looking how you relate to yourself and to the world around you, focusing on our client-therapist relationship and finding healing in that

  • Neuroaffective Relational Model (NARM) - integrating the cognitive part, the emotional part and the body into this holistic method working with the effects of complex and developmental trauma

  • Body-oriented psychotherapy and nervous system regulation - incorporating the body and NS into the talk therapy space by offering gentle somatic practices

  • Mindfulness - for example, use of breath, grounding exercises to help you stay present

What Can We Address

Therapy is always tailored to your individual needs. Here are some example of the challenges I work with:

  • Struggles of living abroad - navigating integration, transition, cultural norms, and feelings of ‘not belonging’ in new environments.

  • Depression & anxiety - understanding the emotional struggles and learning how to build self-trust and find relief in everyday life.

  • Relationships with others and yourself - finding a way to create more meaningful and deeper connections with others, and yourself.

  • Feeling ‘stuck’ & repeating patterns - creating awareness and beginning to engage in new and improved dynamics.

  • Stress & burnout - learning how to manage overwhelm and uncertainty, and building healthier ways to thrive as an individual.

  • Finding your purpose - exploring your identity, purpose and meaning towards a more authentic and aligned life.
