Group Therapy in Copenhagen
Individual therapeutic work, held in connection with others.
Group therapy offers a different way of experiencing therapy. You still bring your own story, your own focus and your own therapeutic process but instead of doing that work only with a therapist, you are held within a small group of people doing their own work alongside you.
At Hue Therapy in Copenhagen, our groups are therapist-led and grounded in relational, humanistic and experiential psychotherapy. They offer a carefully facilitated space to explore what you are moving through, experience being seen and supported by others, and notice what can emerge when therapy happens in relationship.

What is group therapy?
Group therapy brings a small group of people together with one or two trained therapists for a shared therapeutic process. At Hue, this does not mean everyone needs to be experiencing the same problem or working towards the same goal.
Each person brings their own individual therapeutic focus.
You may want to explore anxiety, relationships, boundaries, burnout, loneliness, self-worth, identity, emotional patterns, life transitions or simply something in your life that feels difficult to move through alone.
During the first session, each participant will briefly identify what they would like to focus on. From there, the therapist supports each person's individual process within the wider group.
How does group therapy work?
Our groups use relational process group therapy, grounded in humanistic and experiential psychotherapy. The structure is simple.
When you have space to share, you can talk about what you are experiencing or what feels important to explore. The therapist helps you deepen that process through questions, reflections and therapeutic support.
While one person is sharing, the rest of the group listens.
Other participants do not automatically give advice, interpretations or feedback. They are invited to respond or reflect only when the person sharing wants this, and these interactions are carefully facilitated by the therapist.
This allows you to remain at the centre of your own therapeutic process while also experiencing what it is like to be witnessed and supported by others.
Why group therapy?
There is something different about being understood by a therapist and being understood by another person who is sitting beside you doing their own work.
Group therapy can offer the experience of:
Being seen and heard without needing to perform or have everything figured out
Exploring your individual therapeutic process with professional support
Recognising that experiences you have carried privately may not be yours alone
Becoming more aware of how you relate, communicate and respond to others
Practising vulnerability, boundaries and connection within a supported environment
Receiving support while also witnessing the experiences of others
For some people, the group becomes a place to experience new ways of relating, not just talk about them.
You don't need to have the same story.
A therapy group does not need to be built around one diagnosis, difficulty or life experience.
One person may be exploring relationships. Another may be navigating burnout. Someone else may want to understand their boundaries, anxiety, loneliness, self-worth or a transition in their life.
Your process remains your own.
What you share, how deeply you explore it and what you want from the group can be different from everyone else in the room.
FAQ: What if I feel nervous about group therapy?
It is very normal to feel uncertain about entering a group, particularly if you are used to individual therapy or have never experienced therapy before.
You will not be expected to arrive ready to tell strangers everything about yourself.
Safety is something we build gradually.
The therapist establishes clear agreements around confidentiality, boundaries and how participants respond to one another. Each person is encouraged to take responsibility for sharing within their own capacity, and there is no expectation to disclose more than feels manageable.
When someone is sharing, the group listens. Other participants only respond or offer reflections when invited.
The same people meet each week for six weeks, giving familiarity, trust and connection time to develop.
Who is group therapy for?
Our group therapy in Copenhagen may be particularly suited to people who want to understand themselves more deeply but are also curious about what can happen through connection with others.
You do not need previous therapy experience, a diagnosis or a specific reason for joining.
You simply need something you would like the space to explore and a willingness to participate in the group while respecting your own and other people's boundaries.
Interested in joining?
To join a group, the first step is to express your interest. This allows us to let you know when the next group is forming and share the practical information, including dates, times, therapist/s, group size and price.
There’s no commitment at this stage. Once you receive the details of the upcoming group, you can decide whether you would like to join.
